Uncle Chelsea wants YOU to read some stuff

I’m in the process of trying to find new ways to work on my writing and generate ideas, but aside from that, I’m also looking for a group of people to provide feedback and constructive criticism on my creative work.

Do I want volunteers? Yes. Does that mean you should volunteer if you’re not serious about reading my work? No.

Here’s my current set of criteria for “beta-readers”:

  • Responds to writings in a timely manner (and tells me in advance when it’s not)
  • Provides constructive feedback (not just all good or all bad, not based on solely on personal likes or dislikes, etc.)
  • Answers any and all questions posed by me when looking for specific information in feedback
  • Prepared to read a variety of genres and styles
  • Prepared to read offensive, (violent, scary, political, religious, sexual, etc.) controversial, explicit, graphic work
  • Keeps my work confidential (what goes out to my readers should not be forwarded on to others without my express permission)

If you can meet all of these (and any others I create along the way), then feel free to comment in response to this post saying that you’re interested. I’d like to respect your privacy, so just say something like “I am willing and able to to fulfill these duties” or whatever. If you’re on Facebook, I’ll send you a private message (so be sure to check your inbox!) to ask for your e-mail address. If you’re on WordPress or something else, feel free to e-mail me (chelsea [dot] fiddyment [at] gmail [dot] com) in order to send me your e-mail address.
